MAR AZUL INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL SURPASSES ALL EXPECTATIONS
As the clock struck nine, this morning, many anxious students and teachers queued up at Mar Azul International School to find out the long awaited results of their IGCSE examinations. And it was well worth the wait as envelope after envelope was torn open by shaking hands to reveal marks above and beyond any expectations.
Fifteen lucky students got 100% pass grades from A* to C and the Spanish results were phenomenal with eleven students receiving A* or A grades. The Spanish teacher, Esmeralda Garcia Pascual has also been nominated for a Pride of Spain Award so is herself nervously awaiting the outcome. Clearly she is a very popular teacher who gets the best from her classes.
Rachel Pestell, the school’s Managing Director was absolutely delighted with the outcome. “Receiving such fantastic results is a great accolade for the school and demonstrates the hard work and dedication of the students themselves who put in so much effort. We also couldn’t have achieved it without the commitment and loyalty of our long-standing staff team. They have worked tirelessly with the students to ensure that they all attain their personal best. It is not very often we have the opportunity to celebrate our successes but this is definitely one of those occasions. Considering the school is one of the only International Schools in the area accepting students with special needs, this is an even bigger achievement with even larger mountains to climb for some of our pupils. As a small community school we pride ourselves on the personal attention we can give each individual pupil to coax out the best in them. We set them small, achievable goals and work with them on a regular basis to ensure they are stretching themselves fully. We also have an open door policy for our parents. No matter how busy we are, we always have time to make them a coffee and talk through their concerns”
Furthermore, the school was proud to announce that its BTEC National students had all received their certificates and had passed with flying colours. This is only the second year of exam results for the school and the first year of BTECs and the high results demonstrate just how far the school has progressed since its humble beginnings.
Despite the downturn in the economy, the school has been pleasantly surprised at how many pupils it has recruited over the summer months. A few spaces remain and the school is open from 9 am to 5 pm Monday to Friday for last minute registrations. They can be contacted on 965 720 785. |
