Mar Azul International School, Secondary education for young people aged 12 to 16 studying for IGCSE and Btec qualifications.
Sports Academy
In 2010 the school proudly announced the launch of The Mar Azul Sports Academy. The aim of the academy is to select a small number of students throughout the school who the sports department believe have exceptional talent in sport. The students who are selected will be taken away from the school premises by the PE staff to have extra coaching in all sports. It is hoped that the academy will establish links with sports clubs outside of school, to enable the selected pupils to pursue different sports if they so wish eg. Athletics.
The Sports Academy takes place from Tuesday lunchtime until 16:00 every week. This means that if your child is selected they will miss 2 lessons. Attendance at the Academy is on the condition that the pupils catch up on missed work. Students in the Academy represent the school in football and cricket competitions and often play for teams outside of the school in a variety of sports. Some pupils at the school also represent Spain at junior level in cricket. Sport is given a high priority throughout the school for pupils of all ages and abilities and for those pupils not in Sports Academy they will be given lots of opportunities to participate in sports.
